Early Childhood (6 weeks old –Prekindergarten)
Children who go through PCA’s preschool program will have mastered key literacy and math competencies by the time they enter kindergarten. Our youngest students use academically enriching programs to develop a strong foundation of early literacy and number sense. Older preschoolers build upon this foundation as they engage in a curriculum called which advances their phonics and math skills.
Curriculum Highlights
Each elementary school student follows a well-rounded personalized learning path and benefits from a variety of enrichment resources to develop their character and intellect. With a low student to teacher ratio, PCA students receive individualized attention as they progress through an increasingly challenging curriculum. Beginning in kindergarten, teachers create a welcoming and enthusiastic environment, grounded in interactive project-based learning, where children can excel in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and STEM. Through our digital differentiation platforms, students are able to progress at their own pace. As students advance in grade level, they are introduced to computer science, robotics, debate, visual & performing arts, physical education, and student government.
PCA students enjoy STEAM learning, they are inspired to connect with the world around them as teachers develop themes exploring science, nature, people, and places. Students use music, dance, dramatic play, and art to express their responses to unit themes.
Children are introduced to biblical values and principles in an age-appropriate format. Mission and intergenerational service projects help students put theory into practice. Students are encouraged to commit Bible verses to memory and display Christian character traits.
Reading and writing are everyday activities. Our print-rich environment is designed to stimulate curiosity in writing and reading. Students use spelling, phonics, graphic drawing, and picture creation as they engage in written expression. Children discover that reading is fun as they use big books as well as standard-sized versions in their journey to gain competence in literacy!
PCA welcomes parent involvement in the educational process. Parents have opportunities to assist with learning centers, language arts and reading activities, and special events! We believe that parent participation adds excitement and enrichment to the learning process!
